WRATH, RAGE AND PASSION: WOMEN, HONOUR AND REPUTATION (PIURA-PERÚ, 1790-1820)

Magali Rosas Navarro R. · Temas Americanistas (2025) · DOI: 10.12795/temas-americanistas.2024.i54.10

Resumen

From 1790 to 1820, various attacks against women were recorded in the Piura district by men who, obsessed or in love, saw their advances and actions rejected. Some survivors defended themselves in court, obtaining punishment for the aggressors with the restoration of their honor, imprisonment, and seizure of their property, as evidenced by the criminal cases analyzed. These situations allow us to delve into the world of emotions and reactions of the victims or aggressors.
