Resumen
The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment in a sample of basic education teachers from the city of Puerto Maldonado, Peru. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional approach was adopted. The sample consisted of 204 teachers, selected through probabilistic sampling, who were administered the Work Motivation Questionnaire and the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire, both with adequate psychometric properties. The results showed that Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) between work motivation and organizational commitment was 0.832 (p<0.01). Additionally, a direct and significant correlation was found between work motivation and the dimensions of organizational commitment: affective commitment (r=0.770; p<0.01), continuance commitment (r=0.683; p<0.01), and normative commitment (r=0.742; p<0.01). Finally, it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment, implying that more motivated teachers tend to identify more with institutional goals and values, actively engage in their activities, and exhibit a greater sense of belonging.
