Resumen
In contemporary democracies, the legislative branch plays an important role as the body where laws are created. Therefore, legislative production requires in-depth knowledge of a country’s reality and needs, as well as mastery of the theoretical and practical procedures for its development. For this knowledge to become a reality, legislators must have sufficient professional and academic training in their fields of expertise. This research analyzed the academic level of Peruvian Congressmen from the last two legislative periods (2020-2021 and 2021-2026), demonstrating that a large number of them lack higher education, which, in a certain way, allows us to understand the lack of precision, technique, and common sense in the drafting of laws.
