WHEN INDISCRIMINATE DEATH TOOK HOLD IN PERU: VIOLENCE IN PERUVIAN UNIVERSITIES (1980-1992)

Berruezo M.Á.C. · Historia Actual Online (2024) · DOI: 10.36132/rb76bg92

Resumen

This work analyzes the violence experienced in Peruvian universities during the internal armed conflict in Peru. The university community had to face an extreme situation where they were both victims and perpetrators. They suffered indiscriminate violence from the forces of the Peruvian State and subversive groups. Teachers and students were persecuted, violated, assassinated, and massacred. The fear of death marked most of the university community that did not take sides neither for one side nor for the other. They survived however they could, being scarred in some cases for life.
