Web-Based System with RFID, OCR, and Digital Payment Technology for Automated Management and Electronic Toll Collection in Metropolitan Lima

Gonzalez C.; Jara T.; Alvarado C. · Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Big Data, BigData (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/bigdata66926.2025.11401717

Resumen

The modernization of toll systems requires not only technological upgrades but also new operational models capable of addressing financial inclusion and user accessibility. This paper presents a web-based system for toll management and collection that integrates digital payment platforms such as mobile wallets and bank cards, enabling users to manage contracts, vehicles, and transactions in a secure and transparent environment. The proposed model emphasizes the flexibility of prepaid and postpaid schemes, real-time account monitoring, and automated notifications, while ensuring privacy and data integrity through blockchain-based transaction recording. Preliminary validation in a simulated environment demonstrates the feasibility of the system in terms of scalability, operational efficiency, and user experience. By redefining toll payment processes with accessible and secure digital solutions, this research contributes to the digital transformation of transportation services and supports broader goals of transparency, financial inclusion, and sustainable urban mobility.
