Resumen
In Peru, energy security is based on gas. The decrease in natural gas reserves between 2016 and 2019 was from 16.1 to 10.1 TCF, which reflects a negative replacement rate in this period and a decrease in exploration. However, the evaluation of shale gas reservoirs could influence the increase of gas resources in Peru. Technological advances in the exploitation of these resources made it possible to transform gas resources into economic reserves. The study of unconventional shale gas reservoirs in South America has been developing with greater interest, especially in the business of exploration, characterization, and pilot tests in these reservoirs. This research is the first to evaluate the volume of gas adsorbed in the source rock (Murder Formation) in the Lancones basin in Northeastern Peru, through isotherms obtained in the laboratory, and aims to volumetrically quantify the total gas content (scf/ton) in this formation/
