Resumen

Currently, the post-pandemic context has exacerbated obsessive-compulsive behaviors, increasing the demand for efficient screening mechanisms. In response, this study presents the development and evaluation of a low-cost Virtual Reality (VR) tool designed to enhance the detection of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms. The proposed system is based on the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale Second Edition (Y-BOCS II), whose Spanish version has demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties, high internal consistency, and validity in Spanish-speaking populations [1]. Using Unity and Google Cardboard, the tool was validated with a sample of 200 participants. Unlike traditional paperbased assessments, the immersive VR environment was designed to expose participants to realistic stimulus-based scenarios that may reveal latent symptoms not easily captured through standard questionnaires. The study concludes that lowcost VR represents a viable and sensitive complementary instrument for the early detection of OCD symptomatology
