Resumen
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is markedby bilateral multiple renal cysts. Obesity exacerbates renal volume and glomerular filtration rate decline in polycystic kidney. Very low-calorie ketogenic diets offer promising results for obesity and mild renal insufficiency. We report a male with polycystic kidney treated with a very low-calorie ketogenic diet and analyze the effect of calorie restriction and ketogenic diet on weight loss, glomerular filtration rate improvement, and renal volume reduction. Ketogenic dietary interventions demonstrate feasibility, efficacy, and safety for weight reduction and renal function enhancement in patients with polycystic kidney disease.
