Resumen
The main purpose of this study is to design a management model for initial teacher training in faculties of education, based on Michael Porter's theoretical assumptions on value chain and its applications in higher education. The methodology is qualitative-interpretative and the literature is assessed on: a) theorymethodology of the value chain, b) research conducted in various countries on the value chain in higher education and, c) studies on teacher training. The results show that the primary tasks are admission, teachinglearning, pre-professional practice, and formative and progressive evaluation of the graduate profile. University professors validate this proposal and recommend the incorporation of timely graduation and graduate followup. It is concluded that the value chain model for teacher training management is relevant for its application as a system based on innovation criteria. © (2024), (Centro de Informacion Tecnologica).
