Resumen

Only 76% of rural households have access to electricity. The communities of Quiral Quichqui, Las Tres Boas, and Huaylacucho face serious limitations in energy use. The region generates more than 700,000 tons of agricultural and livestock waste annually. The objective of this research is to analyze the feasibility of using biomass as a source of electrical energy to supply the rural communities of Quiral Quichqui, Las Tres Boas, and Huaylacucho in Huancavelica, promoting energy sustainability and improving the quality of life of their inhabitants. A methodology was established in which the first step was to identify the rural communities in need of electricity supply in the district of Huancavelica. Next, the population size of the three settlements was identified. Then, a biogas plant design was developed, followed by a proposal for the implementation of a biogas and electricity production plant. As a result, the project shows that the communities of Quiral Quichqui, Las Tres Boas, and Huaylacucho have a high availability of biomass to generate biogas. Biodigesters of 500 m3 are required, each capable of producing 456.62 kWh/day of electricity. The system will use an efficient biogas generator (50% methane, over 50% conversion efficiency), ensuring a constant energy supply while making use of by-products such as biofertilizer and residual sludge for fertilization, thereby strengthening local agriculture.
