Resumen
The objective of this research is to determine the effects of Virtual Simulation PhET on the development and reinforcement of Mathematics competencies, especially focusing on one of them: Solving quantity problems. Due to the objective, this research has been done according to the Sequential mixed approach of Explanatory type and quasi-experimental design, using Pre-Test and Post-Test for the control group and experimental group. In addition, a semistructured interview was applied to the classroom teacher to collect her conclusions; subsequently, the data were analyzed through coding and triangulation. The study population was made up of primary students from a private school in the city of Callao, Peru. The sample was composed of 34 students of two classes of fifth grade of primary for the quantitative study; and both classes Mathematics teacher for the qualitative study. At the end of both studies, the result was that the application of the Simulation provided significantly to develop the competency “Solving quantity problems” in the experimental group in contrast to the control group.
