Resumen
Currently, universities today offer classes online, and the use of various technological tools to deliver academic services has become essential. Due to the fact that research on the use of instructional videos continues to raise issues, this study will investigate whether the use of instructional films to university students is beneficial in terms of enhancing the teaching-learning process. We did a comprehensive review of 10 articles. These were selected based on a search of the ERIC, Scopus, Google Scholar, Redalyc, and Scielo databases using eligibility criteria. Six Excel screening questions were used to conduct a content analysis, which was supplemented by the PRISMA and Atlas.ti coding methodologies. Positively, the data presented in the research was consistent. Students may only attend a typical (face-to-face) class once; however, instructional films may be viewed several times, which, as promised, allows for out-of-class synthesis that leads to deeper dialogues on the subject and enhanced student confidence. The commonalities identified in the usage of educational films in higher education are examined, as well as the efficacy of this instructional strategy. It is advised that the video have the following features, among others: a goal and learning goals, interactive questions, highlighting crucial topics, removing or deleting extraneous material, using plain language, and subject fluency.
