Resumen
Moving towards sustainable development is one of the expectations for the nation, which implies efficient, equitable and accessible urban mobility for all citizens. Taking these elements into consideration, this paper analyzes the role of urban mobility in Peru, as well as the legislative proposals made for its articulation with sustainability. Methodologically, this is qualitative research, with the application of documentary review. Among the main findings, we highlight the progress with initiatives to promote sustainable transport, without leaving aside the persistence of structural problems such as road congestion, inadequate infrastructure, obsolescent vehicles, among other aspects. It is concluded that, in spite of multiple governmental efforts, Peru requires strategic planning and non-motorized alternatives for urban mobility, improving the encounter between cities and towns and consolidating the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
