University social responsibility: exploring the perception of students from Ecuador

Zambrano-Zambrano K.; Severino-González P.; Rojas-Bravo V.; Tunjo-Buitrago E. · Formacion Universitaria (2025) · DOI: 10.4067/s0718-50062025000200001

Resumen

The objective of this research study is to examine the perception of students about university social responsibility (USR) in Ecuador. An instrument is administered to 441 students from Ecuador and an exploratory factor analysis is applied. Descriptive statistics, measures of central tendency, and analysis of internal consistency are determined. Statistically significant differences are examined according to socio-demographic characteristics. The results show significant statistical differences for the following variables: age, semester of study, location, and number of family members. It is observed that students positively value various aspects related to USR, which contributes to defining institutional strategies that determine the training of competent and socially responsible professionals. It is concluded that universities must create spaces for the implementation of USR programs due to the contribution they generate to the development of actions valued by each interest group, especially university students. © (2025), (Centro de Informacion Tecnologica).
