Understanding “Flip, Don’t Switch”

Kravitz N.D.; Miller S.; Montalva S.H.V.; Weissheimer A.; Akyalçin S. · Journal of Clinical Orthodontics (2025)

Resumen

In a previous JCO article (September 2019), Kravitz and Miller reviewed the fundamentals of bracket flipping and switching.1 Flipping involves rotating a bracket 180°, while switching refers to moving it between the right and left sides, across the dental midline. Although these techniques are useful in modifying a bracket’s prescription values for biomechanical purposes, they remain confusing to many orthodontists.
