Resumen
This study evaluated the chemical composition, antioxidant capacity, and total phenolics of the hydroalcoholic extract of Schinus areira L. leaves collected in Lima, Peru. Metabolomic analysis by UHPLC-MS/MS identified 39 compounds in the hydroalcoholic extract of S. areira L. leaves. The main secondary metabolites in this hydroalcoholic extract were phenolic compounds and fatty acids, representing 49 % and 12 %, respectively. Other metabolites, such as tannins, triterpenes, alkaloids, coumarins, amides, esters, and quinones were also identified, representing 46 %. The total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity were 235 mg and 129 mg of gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per gram of dry weight, respectively. Finally, the hydroalcoholic extract of S. areira L. leaves was evaluated for its biocidal activity against Adioristus spp. (Andean weevil) on Chenopodium quinoa plants. Biocidal activity was 100 % effective using the hydroalcoholic extract at a 1:100 dilution. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
