Resumen
This systematic review examined the benefits of augmented reality (AR) in higher education. The aim was to assess the effectiveness of AR as an educational tool and its impacts on learning, motivation, and academic performance among university students. A total of 40 studies published between 2020 and 2024 were analyzed, selected through a comprehensive search in academic databases using PICOC criteria and following the PRISMA methodology. The results indicated that AR significantly enhances information comprehension and retention, promotes active and participatory learning, and increases student motivation. Additional benefits observed include improved visualization of abstract concepts and the development of technical skills. However, limitations in the studies were identified, such as the lack of longitudinal research and variability in implementation methods. It was concluded that AR is an innovative and effective tool for improving educational quality at the university level, though more studies are needed to assess its long-term impact and establish implementation standards.
