Resumen
The objective of the research was to determine the toxicity of the ethanolic and aqueous extract of M. mollis “muña” leaves on the viability of third stage larvae of Artemia salina in vitro; the experimental design used was completely randomized, with 9 treatments and 3 replicates for each of the extracts. The treatments were based on concentrations ranging from 0 ppm to 500 000 ppm for the ethanolic extract and from 0 ppm to 125 000 ppm for the aqueous extract. The ethanolic extract was obtained by the percolation method, obtaining a LD50 of 78 753.40 ± 2 914.92 ppm. On the other hand, for the aqueous extract, the infusion method was used, and a LD50 of 13 723.37 ± 3 048.67 ppm was obtained. It is concluded that the ethanolic and aqueous extracts of M. mollis have a low toxicity, which guarantees a high level of safety in their therapeutic use.
