Resumen
The objective of this research is to establish discursive patterns of verbal violence in order to compare statements on social network X directed at women and members of the LGTBIQ+ community in the Peruvian public sphere. A total of 366 replies published in 2023 were examined. Web scraping was carried out based on an initial exploration of insults towards the LGTBIQ+ community and the inferiorization of women. The analysis is based on Bakhtin’s theory of discursive genres (2012), the discursive strategies proposed by Wodak (2003), van Leeuwen’s concept of representation of social actors (1996), and Biondi and Zapata’s characterization of electronic communication (2017). The use of rhetorical devices such as metonymy and idioms is observed. The results show that prejudices associated with women seek to discredit them in terms of their intellect, mind, physique, and ideology. In the case of public figures from the LGBTQ+ community, their discrediting is associated with hypersexualization, moral decay, and pathologization. Therefore, there are similarities in the mental and ideological attacks on both groups. © Los autores.
