Resumen
This article examines the disconnect between contemporary philosophical debates on migration and the concrete practices of border management. It focuses on the gap between normative discussions on justice —such as the opening or closing of borders and membership— and the necropolitical dynamics that shape the management of human mobility. Through a literature review and a deductive approach, we argue that certain normative proposals fail to adequately address the material and human consequences of migration policies at the borders. It is maintained that, in practice, borders function as necropolitical devices that govern the life and death of migrants, rather than as mere zones of admission or rejection as suggested by some philosophical theories.
