Resumen
Peru is economically dependent on hydrocarbons, so exploring gas shale in unconventional systems can be a new source of energy which has stimulated the interest of major oil companies and countries with greater energy dependence. The present study is based on the evaluation of the shales of the Cabanillas formation as a hydrocarbon generating rock and to be considered in the unconventional system and that encompasses the theoretical and conceptual framework, for which a collection and bibliographic review (digital data of exploratory well logs, seismic information, reports, and data analysis but not the state of the art) in the southern part of the Maranon Basin that exploits hydrocarbons with the objective of considering the shales as an unconventional reservoir was carried out.
