THE SCREENPLAY AS A WORK OF LITERARY ART: CONSIDERATIONS AND APPROACHES FOR A HERMENEUTIC ANALYSIS OF THE CINEMATIC TEXT

Chug E.R. · Metafora (2026) · DOI: 10.36286/mrlad.v3i6.266

Resumen

The screenplay has been gaining relevance in academic discourse in recent years, with various studies seeking to revalue it as an autonomous literary work, separate from the film. Although these investigations posit the screenplay as a text with artistic status, there is still no systematic approach that details the categories to be considered for its immanent analysis. This article will address several categories that allow for the systematization of screenplay study from a hermeneutic perspective, based on the premise that every work of art must express a sense of unity, and that its constitutive elements must be cohesively integrated in an interdependent and harmonious manner. The study proposes replicable and objective considerations that should be taken into account by anyone seeking to qualitatively evaluate a film screenplay.
