The ratification of judges in Peru: is it compatible with judicial independence?

Gutarra E.F. · Revista Oficial del Poder Judicial (2020) · DOI: 10.35292/ropj.v12i14.188

Resumen

The regime of ratification of judges, which has been carried out every seven years since the beginning of the judicial career in Peru, has become a complex reality, and this is compounded by the configuration of a new modality of partial evaluation of judges, which is carried out every three and a half years. For this reason, in this article we seek to explain the incompatibility of these figures with the principle of judicial independence, which in comparative law is expressed in a statute of indefinite appointment to the position of judge.
