Resumen

Introduction: The quality of public health services implies a good development of the efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction with which the institutions provide their services to citizens. A prior diagnosis of the quality criteria, according to national references, will allow directing future policy actions. Objective: To determine the quality criteria of services of public health centers in Ecuador, based on the consultation of primary Ecuadorian sources. Methods: Documentary research, in which an exhaustive search of articles, books, and scientific journals was carried out, which theywere extracted from various databases (SciELO, Redalyc, Scopus). The review was conducted in Spanish and English, and Ecuadorian bibliographic references from the past five years were used. Results: Different approaches and challenges related to the health sector, in which an accelerated transformation is currently being experienced, where information and communication technologies play an important role in improving the quality of services. Conclusions: The quality of public health service in Ecuador is influenced by several key factors such as accessibility, inadequate infrastructure and equipment, and a notable progress since 2023, in strengthening the primary healthcare network.
