The promotion of the United Nations peacekeeping missions as a foreign policy model: a comparison between the strategy of the People’s Republic of China and that of Argentina, Brazil and Italy based on International Public Law’s principles

Villarreal J.F.; Maietti F. · Boletin Mexicano de Derecho Comparado (2024) · DOI: 10.22201/iij.24484873e.2024.171.19351

Resumen

Over the last three decades, the People’s Republic of China has gone through a phase of progressive change that has had profound repercussions on the geopolitical strategy implemented and the way its participation in the United Nations peacekeeping missions has taken shape. This article aims to investigate, on the basis of the Chinese experience, how the principles of International Public Law have influenced the choice of some States, such as Brazil, Argentina and Italy, to implement a similar strategy. Thus, the thesis that these States used participation in such operations as a prerequisite for their inclusion in the international order will be supported.
