Guerrero Salazar F.A.E.; Menacho Vargas I.; Godoy Pereyra Y.R.; Rojas-Gutiérrez W.J. · Encuentros (Maracaibo) (2026) · DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19118752

Resumen

This article offers a comprehensive bibliographic analysis of digital citizenship education, understood as the set of competencies for exercising ethical and informed political and administrative participation in the community. The review included nine articles from scientific journals indexed in databases such as Scielo, SCOPUS, and Dialnet, published in the last eight years, to identify key perspectives and approaches in this field. The article addresses the fundamental definitions of digital citizenship, highlighting its importance in developing critical competencies in this regard. Furthermore, it examines the processes of integrating these competencies into the school curriculum, as well as the barriers and challenges in implementing educational programs. The analysis also compares different pedagogical models proposed in the literature and highlights the need for ongoing teacher training and equitable access to technology as fundamental pillars for effective digital citizenship.
