Resumen
Introduction: Planomycin is a derivative of sisomicin, it is a next-generation aminoglycoside in the clinical development phase for the treatment of infections caused by great negative bacteria. Objective: To determine the effect of plazomicin as a treatment for Enterobacterial infections in hospitalized patients. Materials and Methods: The studies were selected in PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane and Google Scholar. Information was collected and recorded in the Revman 5.0 program of the Cochrane Collaboration. Results: Two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were obtained, where 468 patients were collected, of whom they had a mean age of 51.5 years, predominantly female (68.5%). The clinical outcome in the 2 RCTs showed that clinical recovery in the plazomicin group was similar to the control group (OR, 0.86; 95%CI, 0.49-1.51; I2= 0%). The microbiological eradication of Enterobacteroides in the plazomicin group was similar to the control group (OR, 1.15; 95%CI, 0.52-2.53; I2= 0%). Adverse events in the plazomicin group were similar to the control group (OR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.57-1.15; I2= 0%). Conclusion: In this meta-analysis, plazomicin was shown to have similar effects on clinical outcomes, microbiological eradication, and adverse events compared to the comparator groups. Therefore, plazomicin did not have a significant significant difference versus control groups in Enterobacteroides-infected patients. More randomized controlled trials are needed to obtain better clinical evidence in patients infected with aminoglycoside-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.
