Telework and Work-Related Stress in Organizations with Hybrid Work Models

Sanchez Soto J.M.; Romero Nuñez L.I.; Guanilo Pareja C.G.; Pareja Pera L.Y. · Revista Venezolana de Gerencia (2026) · DOI: 10.52080/rvgluz.31.e15.31

Resumen

Hybrid work has intensified technology-mediated coordination and reconfigured psychosocial risks associated with work-related stress. This study estimated the relationship between telework intensity (percentage of weekly remote time) and stress in hybrid workers, and derived a useful operational threshold for preventive management. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted in private companies in Metropolitan Lima, Peru (August–October 2025), with 325 valid questionnaires. Stress was assessed using the PSS-10. Telework intensity showed moderate capacity to identify high stress, and the optimal threshold was around 70% of remote time (≈ 3.5 days/week). Multivariate analyses revealed a curvilinear pattern: lower stress at intermediate intensities and an increase above the threshold. Overall, telework intensity can be used as a simple indicator to guide the monitoring of psychosocial risks and the design of connectivity rules in hybrid schemes.
