Resumen
In the automotive sector, telematics is used as a data collection tool in vehicles and has transformed the transportation operations of the trucking industry. Companies like Volvo, use it to obtain relevant information about their fleets, including fuel consumption. This article examines the global use of telematics regarding truck fuel consumption. With the aim of providing a solid baseline to understand the functionalities of telematics in this area, articles were collected in the Scopus and ScienceDirect databases, published between 2020 and 2024. In addition, to address the relevance of the information obtained by remotely monitoring vehicles, the performance of trucks sample in transport and mining sectors was evaluated using the Volvo Connect platform. The results of this evaluation determined that the trucks used in mining operations in the departments of Lima, Pasco and Ancash have a more efficient use of fuel. The study concludes that telematics emerges as a promising tool, since various studies propose it as a solution to reduce fuel consumption through the quantitative analysis of data collected by telematics devices installed in trucks.
