Technologies to Increase Hydrocarbon Recovery in Northwestern Peruvian Fields under Solution Gas Drive Mechanism

Alexei Huerta Quiñones V.; Moran Quiliano A.; Cahuas Soto J.; Adriano L.; Rondoy L.; Chavez Ormaza W. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2025.1.1.1936

Resumen

This research study is based on applying an improved oil recovery (IOR) method in a mature oil field in Northwestern Peru that has a production history of more than 100 years. The objective of this research is to explore the potential benefits of technologies such as waterflooding, gas flooding, lower salinity water injection and water alternate gas in increasing oil production and recovery factor in Pariñas reservoir by using numerical simulation. It should be noted that a different approach of reservoir management is proposed for Talara reservoirs by providing better use for excess gas production and/or disposed water, that also contributes with improving environmental footprint of a mature field.
