Technological Solution for Monitoring Disease-Infected Populations

Neira S.; Rodriguez R.; Mansilla-Lopez J.; Loza R. · Communications in Computer and Information Science (2026) · DOI: 10.1007/978-3-032-16848-1_5

Resumen

Infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, represent a global threat due to their easy spread. In the Peruvian context, the lack of preparedness of the health system has led to a rapid expansion and affectation in all sectors of the country. To address this challenge, it is proposed a technological solution for monitoring disease-infected populations that integrates technologies such as edge computing, cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI)-based search technology. This system enables real-time monitoring and early detection of infectious diseases, thus reducing and controlling their spread. The mobile application provides functionalities such as geolocation to identify areas of contagion and a health record for patients to report their status during isolation. In addition, a web platform has been developed to allow health professionals to monitor the patient’s evolution and track contacts. The results of the experimental validation show effective early detection, reduced response time and improved medical care. This integrated approach has the potential to revolutionize infectious disease monitoring and control strategies, improving responsiveness and helping to mitigate the spread of disease globally. By harnessing emerging technologies, faster and more accurate results can be achieved, contributing to better public health management and more effective population protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.
