Resumen
This paper presents the development of a virtual reality (VR) platform for the treatment of acrophobia, which allows patients to face their fear of heights in a controlled and safe manner. The solution implements adjustable virtual environments that facilitate gradual exposure to different height levels, while the therapist monitors the user's physiological responses in real time through a web platform. The design of the platform is based on exposure therapy and systematic desensitization methodologies, allowing the experience to be personalized based on the progress and reactions of each patient. Through the user interface and software architecture, an immersive experience was achieved that meets the clinical and usability requirements necessary for the therapeutic field. Preliminary results show a significant reduction in anxiety related to acrophobia, positioning virtual reality as an effective tool for the treatment of specific phobias. This project lays the foundation for future research in the use of VR in psychotherapy, extending its applicability to other anxiety disorders.
