Tax Systems and the Competitiveness of Medium-Sized Enterprises in Peru and Chile

Zegarra G.W.M.; Rosado M.E.B.; Hancco J.F.A.; Molina J.F.V. · Smart Innovation, Systems and Technologies (2023) · DOI: 10.1007/978-981-99-0337-5_16

Resumen

Consumption is the final step of the economic process, particularly the productive one, and it entails meeting people’s immediate and long-term demands. Profitability is defined as the ratio of profits to the partners’ investment in the running of the business. This not only relates to profits, but also to the profits generated in comparison to the partners’ investment. Companies’ financial goal is to maximize profitability, or to generate as much money as possible with the least amount of investment. Borders have formed, more than a territorial space, the essential idea of the human being to establish the principle of property and belonging since the beginning of the history of nations. Borders depict an area that exists above geographical boundaries and serve as constant watchdogs over the trade that occurs between them, as well as the circumvention of established rules. For this reason, it was determined in the present study that, in the case of the tax systems of Peru and Chile, it should be noted that they are very similar legal constructions, but that they have different tax burdens, and that, above all, the level of culture and involvement in the fulfillment of tax obligations differs between the two countries. Regarding the tax burden of each tax system and the view of whether or not it is fair, the tax burden in Chile is regarded to be quite high compared to the tax charges in Peru; thus, there is greater rigor in Chile’s tax requirements.
