Systematic review on the inclusion of technological tools in the Health Sector Supply Chain (CSSS)

Castillo-Arce A.; Patrick Sanchez-Zavalaga H.; Nuñez-Bardales K.; Obregon-Tinoco H.; Bazan-Aguilar A. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2025.1.1.1596

Resumen

This research project analyzes the incorporation of technological tools and their impact on supply chain efficiency in the healthcare sector. The methodology used was qualitative research, based on a systematic literature review with exhaustive searches in electronic databases such as Scopus and ScienceDirect. Keywords were defined using the PICOC tool, which allowed us to identify 63 articles that met the inclusion criteria established in the PRISMA diagram. Through bibliometric analysis, the concepts and applications of technological tools were explored, as well as their main advantages, challenges, and barriers to adoption. The results showed positive impacts, such as improved demand forecasting, optimized inventory management, and strengthened trust among partners, and increased transparency and traceability of medical products. However, obstacles were also identified, such as lack of awareness, resistance to technological change, lack of government policies, financial constraints, and concerns about data privacy. Likewise, a growing adoption of emerging technologies was observed, with artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology standing out as the most widely used independently. Furthermore, a trend toward technological integration was identified, with the combination of IoT and blockchain being the most significant. Finally, the main barriers to the adoption of these technologies in the Peruvian context were assessed.
