Resumen
This systematic literature review aimed to analyze how reverse logistics influences the operational management of retail companies, integrating recent evidence obtained through a rigorous process based on the PRISMA guidelines. From the analysis of thirty-three studies selected from Scopus and Web of Science, it was identified that reverse logistics directly contributes to improving operational efficiency by optimizing returns, reusing resources, and reducing costs related to product disposal. The findings show that retail companies strengthen their competitiveness when they incorporate circular economy practices, digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, and data-driven management models, enabling greater traceability and inventory control. Furthermore, it is evident that the proper implementation of remanufacturing, refurbishment, and recycling processes not only promotes environmental sustainability but also increases customer satisfaction and organizational resilience. Overall, the review demonstrates that reverse logistics consolidate itself as a strategic element capable of integrating sustainability, innovation, and operational performance within retail supply chains.
