Resumen
Research on sustainable smart cities (SSC) has progressively gained importance in scientific literature. Growing urbanization sets challenges for the quality of life and sustainability of cities. The objective of this document is to analyze all the scientific production carried out on smart sustainable cities, identifying the trends and gaps for future research. A bibliometric study was carried out through a five-phase methodological process. This search was carried out in the Scopus database and RStudio, Bibliometrix, VosViewer and Excel were used for the corresponding data analysis. The authors found 283 documents that had been published were recovered, where a significant chronic increase is evident since 2018. The thematic analysis demonstrated interest and evolution in exponential numbers in recent years. There are research gaps about SSC in the context of technology and artificial intelligence, impact and sustainability, and design and management itself. This document hopes to position itself as a basis to enhance the bibliometric analysis of scientific production about smart sustainable cities. This field gains notoriety due to its constant evolution and technological advancement. © (2026), (Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico). All rights reserved.
