Sustainable development: Challenges for sugar mills

Ulloa M.A.; Lujan M.A.; Reyes J.B. · Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (2020)

Resumen

Development and well-being is associated with energy or technology. But development goes further, involving social development policies based on the resources available in the region: industries and natural resources. This research analyzes current situation for determining the sustainable development of the sugar mills at the north region based upon three priorities for mounting a power portfolio in a middle-long term toward an energy economy based on solar resources. The program emphasized the use of local renewable resources as a challenge and an opportunity for smallmiddle power plants in order to facilitate entry into the energetic market in the middle-long term of new technologies for the regional development. © IEOM Society International.
