Sustainability in sport organizations in Peru

Salguero J.Q. · A Global Perspective of Sustainability in Sports Organizations (2025) · DOI: 10.1108/978-1-83608-726-720251016

Resumen

Peru is a South American country with diverse geographical regions and a growing emphasis on sustainability within its sport organizations. The promotion of sustainability has gained relevance, particularly through national policies like The National Policy on Physical Activity, Recreation, Sport, and Physical Education (PARDEF), and the efforts of the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD). Despite economic challenges, there have been significant strides in incorporating sustainable practices in sport facilities and events, such as the installation of LED lighting in major stadiums and the successful management of the 2019 Pan American Games. Looking ahead, the preparation for the 2027 Pan American Games provides an opportunity to further advance sustainability in Peru's sport sector.
