Resumen
In this paper, we studied some characteristics, such as demographic variables, depression, and college stress, which are associated or not with university achievement, in students of a faculty of basic science at a non-private university. A transactional, descriptive, and explanatory study was used on a sample, of probabilistic type, with 280 participants. The data were gathered during the second half of 2017, applying the Beck depression test, Barraza academic stress test, and the variables age, stages of life, sex, professional jobs, civil status, and socioeconomic status. For the statistical analysis, the multiple logistic regression model was used to determine if the variables study depression, component for academic stress, and demographic influence academic performance. The results show that the variable that influences university achievement is depression and the characteristics that do not associate university achievement are age, stages of life, gender, professional school, civil status, socioeconomic level, and that dimension for college stress.
