Study habits, distance learning and academic performance in Veterinary Medicine students in Lima, Peru

Salas-Castillo G.B.; Salas-Asencios R. · Revista de Investigaciones Veterinarias del Peru (2026) · DOI: 10.15381/rivep.v37i1.32900

Resumen

During the COVID-19 pandemic, universities adopted distance learning model, which exposed students to distractions and negatively impacted their study habits and academic performance. This study evaluated the relationship between both factors in students enrolled in Veterinary Pathology courses at a private university in Lima, Peru, during 2020-2021. In total, 199 students responded to an online survey containing the Escalante and Wrenn study habits inventories. The results showed good to very good study habits and a slight positive correlation with academic performance (rho = 0.168; p = 0.018), but a negative attitude toward studying also prevailed. © Los autores.
