Study and application of wind rose for vertical and horizontal axis wind turbine installation in Lima

Quispe J.J.N.; Nina J.H.; Jara S.T. · Proceedings of the 2020 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference, EIRCON 2020 (2020) · DOI: 10.1109/eircon51178.2020.9254076

Resumen

This paper presents the study and application of the wind rose in issues of installation of distributed generation systems also known as in-situ generation specifically of vertical axis (VAWT) and horizontal (HAWT) wind turbines for different points of Lima. To do this, we selected 4 different places in Lima, urban areas with a high population density and with the presence of buildings, and on the other hand rural areas with a smaller population and in some cases with a large wind resource due to the absence of buildings that prevent the wind flow. In that sense, we chose places that have sufficient information and are constantly measured by the corresponding institution, in this case the Senamhi, so the places chosen were Carabayllo and Campo de Marte for Metropolitan Lima on the other hand are Ñaña and Raimondi for Lima Provinces. This study also has the objective of analyzing the feasibility for the selection of one turbine over another by studying its annual and monthly wind rose and monthly average wind speed for the place where the wind turbine installation of the system is planned.
