Resumen

In recent years, linguistics has expanded its field of application in law. Linguists are increasingly sought after to advise lawyers, judges, and prosecutors on issues of legal language and language as evidence in criminal and civil proceedings. The aim of this paper is to highlight the scientific work of linguistics in legal and forensic contexts in Peru, Brazil, and Argentina. To this end, the following events are highlighted: 1) the participation of Project 30 in the ALFAL International Congress (2024); 2) the dossier on the subject published in this issue of the journal Lengua y Sociedad; and 3) current experiences in the study of legal and forensic linguistics. This research highlights publications and works on legal discourse and the environment; legal discourse and power; and legal discourse from different perspectives (judicial, administrative, and evidentiary language). © Los autores.
