Student Outcome Assessment in a Project Management Subject from Chemical Engineering Program in Cusco

Bernaola U.R.F.; Farfan A.R.M.; Ortiz E.L. · Proceedings - 7th International Symposium on Accreditation of Engineering and Computing Education, ICACIT 2021 (2021) · DOI: 10.1109/icacit53544.2021.9612478

Resumen

This article presents the measurement, and evaluation carried out on the student outcomes, 'Environment and Sustainability' (Student outcome H), and 'Project Management' (Student outcome L), from the Formulation and Evaluation of Projects subject that belongs to the Curriculum of the Chemical Engineering Program at the National University of San Antonio Abad of Cusco (UNSAAC) during the academic semesters 2020-I and 2020-II. The student outcomes, 'Environment and Sustainability', and 'Project Management' that have three criteria, and two criteria respectively, were measured in a collaborative work called 'capstone project'. In the 2020-I semester, all the student outcomes were achieved with the exception of the criterion H-3 (It proposes what kind of technologies could be applied in order to mitigate environmental impacts generated for industrial processes, considering a sustainable development approach). In the 2020-II semester, all the student outcomes were achieved with the exception of the criterion H-2 (It evaluates the environmental impacts that are generated by the industrial project considering environmental standards). In order to improve the performance of the student outcome 'Environment and Sustainability', methodologies related with environmental standards, and environmental management were proposed in order to be applied in the curricula of the Chemical Engineering Program. On the other hand, the student outcome 'Project Management' was applied in the capstone project adequately; it was the first time that this topic was implemented in the subject; however, the application of the ten knowledges of project management, according to PMBOK, was well fixed, and the student outcome was overcome in both semesters.
