Resumen
Currently, humanity is in times of pandemic caused by COVID-19, where students have to adapt to new changes, and as a consequence they have been affected by academic stress, with a negative impact on their school performance. The objective was to provide available evidence on the relationship between academic stress and the performance of university students in times of COVID-19. A systematic literature search was carried out considering the guidelines of Kitchenham & Charters and the PRISMA organization, for studies published between 2020 and 2021. 33,068,071 articles were identified in the PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis Online, ProQuest, ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore, Emerald, and Microsoft Academic databases. Then, exclusion and quality criteria was applied, including 56 articles for final review. The main result obtained was statistical data from research on academic stress and performance, variables that are related to multiple factors typical of the current pandemic. This constitutes a phenomenon that affects health at a physiological, psychological and social level, affecting academic performance in university students. It is recommended to carry out research oriented to this area and related to sociodemographic variables in order to provide tools to students to face the consequences of academic stress.
