Resumen
This study presents a state-of-the-art review on the use of bamboo fibers as reinforcement in concrete, focusing on their mechanical and rheological performance. A total of 30 scientific articles were analyzed, examining the influence of fiber geometry, dosage, and surface treatments. Results indicate that the incorporation of bamboo fibers significantly improves tensile and flexural strength, enhancing ductility and crack-bridging behavior. However, a reduction in workability is observed due to the hydrophilic nature of the fibers. Compressive strength generally remains stable or shows slight variations within structural ranges. Alkaline treatments are identified as a key factor in improving fiber-matrix adhesion. Overall, bamboo fiber-reinforced concrete is presented as a promising sustainable alternative for structural applications.
