Spread Virus: Usability Evaluation on a Mobile Augmented Reality Videogame

Poma A.; Aldaves P.; Canaval L. · Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (2023) · DOI: 10.1007/978-3-031-25942-5_49

Resumen

In recent years, Augmented reality (AR) videogames have not met user expectations. This is due to a lack of innovative content, unimaginative gameplay, and that there are not many AR videogames readily available to users. We present Spread Virus, a tower defense game for the AR era, implemented with Usability in mind to make sure that the user interface and in the gameplay mechanics better appeal to players. After its implementation, we used System Usability Scale (SUS) to determine its score within the scale of 0 to 100. Spread Virus was evaluated by twenty users and obtained a score of 74.63, which indicated an acceptable level. The results of the experiment, as well as the techniques used, can be used as a baseline for future research focused on the usability of AR videogames.
