Romero-Carazas R.; Visurraga-Camargo L.A.; Gamarra-Castillo F.P.; Bazualdo-Fiorini E.R.; Espiritu-Martinez A.P.; Callupe-Cueva P.C. · Retos (2025) · DOI: 10.47197/retos.v62.109331

Resumen

Physiotherapy contributes to the rapid recovery of athletes and, in turn, allows them to continue performing at their best. The objective of this study was to conduct an analysis of the scientific production in Scopus regarding sports performance through physiotherapy techniques from 2005 to 2024. A quantitative bibliometric method was used for this study. To generate the indicators of scientific production, data from 69 publications analyzed in Scopus were selected based on keywords in English such as: sports AND performance and physiotherapy AND techniques. An indication of the growing interest in this area is the 59.4% increase in the number of published words from 2018 to 2023. The United States ranks first in global scientific production, accounting for 20.5%; furthermore, the journal BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders published three documents, with the principal author Takla, A. (n=35) being the most cited. It is concluded that there is a dynamic trend in thematic variety, authorship, sources and accessible resources within the field of physiotherapy-based research on sports performance. Therefore, this bibliometric study could pave the way for further studies. © Federación Española de Asociaciones de Docentes de Educación Física (FEADEF).
