Resumen
The following article is part of a research study whose objective is to analyze and use as a theoretical framework the role of cultural spaces in the Latin American urban context through the theoretical prism of Jordi Borja. The methodology of combining the main architectural premises of design was applied, starting from the documentary review and data analysis of five cases between cultural centers and analogues in South America, which indicate their main criteria applied in their designs, to then collect this information and obtain the results of the process, which strengthen the importance of the implementation of public spaces in the communities through guidelines applied in the evaluated cases; El Lugar de la Memoria (LUM) located in Peru obtained the highest number of criteria applied (7/12), while the case study of the same country qualified with the lowest (3/12); showing as a result that the spatial hierarchy in income differentiated by zones obtained the highest score (80%), the application of horizontal platforms integrated in the natural terrain (80%), the depressed volumetric positioning and infiltrated in the terrain (60%). Based on this, we conclude with the result of the guidelines for public spaces, which contribute to the strengthening of social cohesion and through the creation of living public spaces capable of responding to the local dynamics of the inhabitants of Latin America who share similar cultural roots, language and customs. © (2026), (Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico).
