Núñez-Pacheco R.; Núñez-Núñez M. · La Palabra (2025) · DOI: 10.19053/uptc.01218530.n50.2025.20246

Resumen

Literature and video games have generated a series of intermedial relationships such as adaptations and transmedia storytelling. The presence of women in this interaction between media is still in its early stages. The purpose of this study is to reflect on the relationship between literature written by women and video games based on adaptations of some literary works or the presence of video games in their narrative work from a gender perspective. The novel The A.B.C. Murders by Agatha Christie and the video game related to it, as well as J. K. Rowling’s books and the Harry Potter video game saga, and the novel Space Invaders by Nona Fernández and the video game of the same name. In the three cases analyzed, the representation of women reproduces gender stereotypes in both the novels and the video game and transmedia products. Greater female participation in this media interaction opens new possibilities for reinterpreting contemporary technoculture.
