Resumen
Introduction: The social risk of the elderly can negatively influence their physical and emotional health, seriously affecting their health and well-being. Objective: To determine the relationship between social risk in older adults and sociodemographic factors in the San Nicolás Micro Health Network, Huaraz. Methodology: Non-experimental cross-sectional design study. The data were collected between October and December 2023 in a sample of 180 adults over 65 years of age selected by probabilistic sampling. After informed consent, instruments were applied to measure social risk, daily life activities, family functionality, and depression. The analysis and treatment of the variables was carried out with the chi-square and Kendall’s tau-b statistical tests. Results: Of the older adults at social risk, 60% have severe dependency, 68% mild depression, and 49% moderate family dysfunction. Regarding sociodemographic factors, it is observed that age, sex, marital status, and occupation influence the social risk of the older adult (p < 0.05). Conclusions: There is social risk in older adults with severe dependency, mild depression and moderate family dysfunction. Age, sex, marital status and occupation also influence social risk. © (2025), (Spanish Publishers Associate). All Rights Reserved.
